2006/2007 Season Begins

The Europe 2006/2007 football season already began, actually. The 1st round of Intertoto Cup began on June 17, the 1st qualifying round of Champions League began on July 11 while the 1st qualifying round of UEFA Cup began on July 13. But, today, the Scottish Premier League will kick-off, the 1st of the Europe well-known leagues to do so. On paper, again it will be the battle of the 2 Glasgow teams, the Celtic & the Rangers. And again, I'll be on the defending champion Celtic's side!

Yesterday also saw the draw of Champions League 3rd qualifying round. My attention went to Liverpool, although I'm not a Liverpool's fan. The Reds will meet Maccabi Haifa. Hohoho.. Liverpool, kasi belasah sama itu Israel!!!! Other big teams like Shakhtar Donetsk, Valencia, CSKA Moskow, AC Milan, Galatasaray, Benfica, Arsenal & Ajax, I would say have good chance to progress to the group stage.

In our local football scene, the last match of the M-Cup group stage will be played tonight. 4 teams - Perak, Perlis, Sarawak & TM FC already booked their places in the q-finals. NS Naza, Terengganu, Selangor, Penang E&O, Kedah, MPPJ & DPMM FC will go all out tonight to try to get the remaining 4 places.
