Italy Win The 2006 World Cup!!!!!!

Between Italy & France, I prefered Italy to lift the cup, & they did!!! (Achtung!! Maybe I'm a bit bias in this entry.) Although the victory was decided by the penalty shoot-out, the match was very interesting from the 1st minute. There were many talking points. 1st talking point, Henry fell down to the ground. A worrying moment, remembering the late Marc Vivien Foe incident. 2nd talking point, the penalty that was given to France. Malouda had a slight touch from Materazzi, it was a touch but I didn't think France deserve a penalty kick. 3rd talking point, the penalty kick itself. Zidane scored with a chip that hit the cross bar & went in. Yup, Zizou planned the chip but I didn't think he planned to hit the cross bar. Lucky Zizou. 4th talking point, the Italians' corner kicks. Every time Pirlo crossed the ball, with the like of Thuram, Gallas & Vieira, France still looked so vulnerable, hmmm...why?? Don't forget, Materazzi's goal came from 1 of the corner kicks. The 1st half was well balanced. However, the 2nd half was a different story. It was all about France. Henry, Zidane, Malouda, Ribery, all went for attacks. Hard time for Cannavaro & co. 90 minutes ended with no goal added. The match went to extra time. OK, now the 5th talking point, Zidane head-butted Materazzi in the chest. What was he thinking?! To be fair, maybe Materazzi said something. But a great player like Zizou to do such silly act, unthinkable, unacceptable! The extra time ended & then the penalty shoot-out began. Only Trezeguet missed the kick. Very costly miss, handed the WC to the Azzurri.

Yesterday also saw Federer finally got his revenge, beating Rafael Nadal 6-0, 7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, & at the same time retaining his Wimbledon crown. Fedex, on the grass bole laa..try on the clay tgk!! :P

Yesterday's result:

World Cup (Final): Italy 1 France 1 (5-3 in penalty shoot-out)
